The future is female.
The United Girls of the World Society (UGW) is a Vancouver-based registered charity whose purpose is to address and prevent problems faced by girls and women by providing mentoring programs and rites of passage.
I became involved with the United Girls of the World Society and served on the Board of Directors from 2018 to 2020, when it was primarily connected to G Day, a event series celebrating girls as they take their first steps into adolescence.
UGW’s primary activity is presenting Fire & Flower, a mentoring and rite of passage program to help girls navigate their transition into young womanhood.
G Day: A Celebration of Womanhood

At G Day, various presenters shared stories on topics such as encouraging diversity and inclusion, overcoming adversity, improving accessibility, becoming more empowered, developing courage and embracing change.

Each event requires a small army of volunteers to ensure a smooth and successful event. I am pictured here with some of my colleagues from Lux Insights, one of G Day’s sponsors and G Day supporters.

Participants share this day with their friends and a loved one or ‘champion’ to build a community of support and sisterhood.
